Program Highlights:
The New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (Office of Collaborative Precollege Programs' STEP (Science and Technology Entry Program) Project offers cognitive and affective strategies to middle and high school students interested in the fields of health, science, math and technology. Student participants represent the traditionally underrepresented populations in STEM careers. Middle school students enrolled in 7th and 8th grades participate in self and college awareness courses, as well as test preparatory courses in Math & Science. Through a partnership with City Tech's Nursing Department, talented junior and senior high school health science students may participate in a career pathway program that provides academic and financial support needed to complete the first semester of the City Tech Nursing curriculum prior to entry as College freshmen. In all cases, students are provided access to college credit courses that better prepare students to graduate from college, having saved time and money.
