Program Highlights:
At Albany Medical College (AMC) STEP, we focus on providing academic enrichment and experience in health and medical sciences. In our program, STEP students from grades 7-12 meet twice a week on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings from October through June. Here they are provided with supplemental instruction and tutoring in science, mathematics, and technology and they also participate in career development activities to introduce them to a variety of health and medical related careers. In addition, we participate in STEP related activities and events, such as science competitions, hands on workshops, and conferences. The AMC STEP program is competitive, requiring student participants to have and maintain an overall, and math and science average of 80-85% or above. Additional requirements include either being an underrepresented minority student (e.g., Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Alaskan Native, or American Indian) or economically disadvantaged as defined on our website at www.stepforleaders.org
